The Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers Program began in 1987 from the efforts of the Green Bay Police Chief after a federal crime prevention grant was received. The Mayor of Green Bay authorized the start of the program with a 8 member citizens board. In 1988 the program was expanded to cover all of Brown County, and the name Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers was adopted. Since that time, the concept has developed into a combination of efforts by local media, businesses, civic and social clubs, law enforcement agencies, and the public. Donations of airtime, newspaper space, and reward monies have established Crime Stoppers as an effective tool to fight crime in the area. |||
The Mission of Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers is to deter, reduce, and assist in the solving of crime.
Our vision is to engage the community in support of Brown County area law enforcement in the apprehension of criminals, and to deter and reduce criminal activities through education within our schools and through interaction with the community, the media, and law enforcement. |
